About the visual

Org Chart Visual is a free Power BI custom visual that renders a fully expanded organisation chart from a parent–child (employee → manager) relationship in your data. It needs no measure, supports ragged-depth hierarchies and multiple roots, and shows every branch at once.

Getting started

Add the visual to your report from AppSource (Visualizations pane → … → Get more visuals), then drag the required fields into the visual's field wells: Employee Name, Employee ID and Manager ID. Optional fields: Job Title, Grade, Colour By (category colour coding) and Value (a numeric field shown on each node, which also enables cross-highlighting from other visuals). A sample report (.pbix) demonstrating the visual is available on the AppSource listing.

Known limitations

Power BI supplies custom visuals with a maximum of 30,000 rows, so larger organisations are truncated at that limit. Cross-highlighting from other visuals requires a numeric field in the Value bucket — without one, selections in other visuals filter the chart instead of highlighting within it.
